During your flight
On long flights, prolonged sitting and dry cabin air are the two most common complaints. Compression socks, regular hydration and short walks along the aisle are the usual measures.
Mosquito protection
Insect precautions matter in the Amazon basin and the low jungle, much less in Cusco or on the coast.
Sun & heat
UV rises sharply with altitude. On the Inca Trail and around Lake Titicaca, sun protection matters more than the air temperature suggests.
Food & water
Bottled or treated water is standard outside major hotels. Electrolytes help with both altitude and long bus days.
First aid
